April 29th Update

Hi all!  Last week was our second GG meeting.  It was short and sweet.  We mainly went over our project for this semester, which was getting low-flow shower heads installed.  Apparently, there are some problems with facilities on getting these low-flow heads installed.  Facilities is refusing to install them now because they said that people have been complaining that the new shower heads are "stinging" them.  I contacted Facilities about this, but have yet to hear back from them.  Apparently, they will be investigating this matter further during the summer, and they are hoping to have the problem resolved by next semester.

April 22nd Update

Good News!  We had our first Green Greek meeting on April 10th and it was quite a success!  Of the sororities, SSS, ASA, and AST attended, and OGO attended from the fraternities. We have a second meeting set for Thursday, April 24th, and the 5 participating Greek life residences will have changed their shower heads to low flow shower heads by that time.  This is just the first of many steps that the Green Greeks plan to take.

Also of note, the college Panhellenic Council is supporting the Green Greeks by requiring that a non-alcoholic recyclable be brought to each Greek Week event this week.  I must say, this is very promising and exciting!

March 31st Update

I met with the Presidents last Tuesday, and the program was well-received!  I got a lot of support from the Greek Life Coordinator, Laura Gordon, which really helped convince the Presidents that this was a good idea.  I'm waiting to hear back from them this Friday (I made up forms for them to fill out and hand back to me).  If all goes well, we should be able to have our first meeting in the next couple weeks!  Here are the forms and presentation I came up with: Green Greeks2.ppt  Green Greeks form.doc
